Doni is a native of Roanoke, Virginia located in the Blue Ridge Mountains. From as early as elementary school he knew that art was his life’s choice.
He began his commercial art career while still in high school and upon graduation he attended Virginia Art Institute.
After four years in the Navy, he began his undergraduate work at Old Dominion University and continuing as a staff artist at various studios. While earning his B.S. in Art, he was a courtroom artist for WTAR/CBS and he received selected visual arts awards such as the Margolius Art Endowment. Doni’s fine art was selected for exhibition in local galleries.
He and his wife, Gudrun, moved to Colorado in the summer of 1976 and Doni set off on his 24 year career as the Visual Arts Instructor at Woodland Park High School.
Galleries that he has exhibited in include Boulder Street Gallery, Breckenridge Gallery, The Marcus Gallery, Tulsa Gallery, Garden of The Gods Gallery, Wade Gallery of Taos, Ars Longa Gallery, ArtQuest Gallery and Austin Galleries.
