Jim has been creative since childhood. His formal introduction to art began in the early 1960’s during his 9-year career with the U.S. Military. He studied ceramics, painting and glass enameling. Jewelry and metal design became his favorite method of creating and he began making jewelry by request.

In 1972 Jim opened a store in Manitou Springs, Colorado and began successfully selling custom designed jewelry, specializing in wedding bands. In 1976 Jim moved his business to Aspen where he designed for influential clients like Jimmy Buffet and Burl Ives. The increased everyday expenditure caused by Aspen’s irrational growth and development brought Jim back to Colorado Springs in 1984. In 1999 while still primarily producing custom work, Jim began designing limited edition sterling silver Christmas ornaments for collectors. In early 2008 he began working in glass creating jewelry with silver and gold attachments. This started out of the need to create glass eggs for his sterling silver bird’s nest, one of the many limited edition sterling silver ornaments. “My artistic career has had many challenging and satisfying commissions; a gold table service, silver and stone inlays in floors and entryways to name a few.” |
